Wool Rugs
Authentic Moroccan wool rugs are made with care and love from high-quality materials, sustainably and with respect for nature. These Berber rugs are built to last and withstand wear and tear, and they are exceptionally easy to maintain.
Wool naturally repels dirt and moisture
The untreated, high-quality wool used in Moroccan rugs naturally repels dirt, liquids, and odors due to the lanolin in the fibers. Wool also does not generate static electricity or attract dust, and it doesn’t shed excessively. These features make Moroccan wool rugs ideal for homes with kids and pets.
Air out or vacuum without brushes
Refresh your rug by airing it out in dry weather in the shade. You can also vacuum it gently without using a brush attachment. Avoid vigorous vacuuming, as it can wear down the rug. A good alternative is to flip the rug over and vacuum the floor underneath to remove debris.
Clean individual stains with natural Marseille soap
Blot fresh spills immediately with paper towels. Dried stains can be cleaned at home using natural Marseille soap. Marseille soap contains vegetable oils, soda, water and salt, so it doesn’t strip the wool of its natural fat; lanolin. Lanolin helps maintain the wool's durability and signature softness, giving it a healthy appearance and silky sheen.
Winter snow cleaning revives your wool rug naturally
Snow cleaning is an effective way to freshen and clean your rug without water. First, let the rug cool outside before placing it in the snow—this prevents moisture from clinging to the warm rug. Sprinkle snow on top, gently press or roll the rug in the snow, and softly rub snow into the wool fibers. Finally, shake and brush off all snow carefully to prevent moisture inside.
Avoid water washing – choose a rug care professional
The natural plant-based dyes in Moroccan wool yarns can be sensitive to water. If your rug needs thorough cleaning, we recommend using a professional cleaner experienced in Berber or tribal rugs.
Store properly to protect your investment
If storing the rug, roll it loosely and wrap it in a breathable fabric such as cotton. Wool fibers can react to moisture and temperature changes, so store the rug in a dry, ventilated space.

Boucherouite Rugs
Boucherouite rugs are primarily made from recycled textiles and wool, much like Finnish rag rugs. If made entirely from recycled fabric, they can be washed at home. However, if wool is included, care must be taken to treat them gently, like other delicate textiles.
Vacuum lightly and air regularly
Vacuum on low suction without a brush. Air the rug outdoors regularly. In winter, snow brushing is a great way to revive Boucherouite rugs. You can also place the rug pile-side down so loose debris falls to the floor, then vacuum the floor afterward.
Gently clean stains with a damp cloth
Blot stains immediately with paper towels, then gently dab with a damp cloth. If necessary, use a mild, eco-friendly soap like Marseille soap, but avoid harsh chemicals or synthetic cleaners.
Hand wash when needed – avoid machine washing
Hand wash the rug in lukewarm water with a gentle, eco-friendly detergent. If it contains wool, be especially cautious with water temperature and avoid scrubbing. Do not use pine soap; use Marseille soap instead. In Morocco, baking soda is also used in cleaning. Let the rug dry flat. Avoid machine washing, as it can deform the rug or fray the edges. When in doubt, consult a professional.
Use indoors and rotate periodically
Boucherouite rugs are best suited for dry indoor spaces. Rotate the rug occasionally to ensure even wear and preserve colors.
Store dry and wrapped in breathable fabric
Roll the rug loosely and store it in a dry, well-ventilated area. Do not seal it in plastic—wrap it in breathable fabric like cotton or linen.

Tuareg Mats
Tuareg mats are made from palm leaves and reed, woven together and reinforced with decorated strips of goat or camel leather. These durable mats are made to withstand the harsh Sahara climate, making them moisture-resistant and tolerant of temperature changes.
Vacuum lightly and air out regularly
Use a furniture nozzle to gently vacuum the mat without damaging the hard surface or leather details. Avoid rotating brushes and strong suction. You can also refresh the mat by airing it out or brushing it with a soft brush.
Wipe spills with a damp cloth
Blot fresh spills immediately and wipe gently with a damp cloth. If needed, use mild, natural soap like Marseille soap, avoiding chemical cleaners.
Do not use water – dry clean only
Do not soak a Tuareg mat in water. You may wipe it with a slightly damp cleaning cloth. For deep cleaning, consult a professional experienced in leather and natural fiber rugs.
Store dry and breatheable
Roll the mat loosely and store it in a well-ventilated area. Do not seal in plastic—use a breathable wrap like cotton fabric.
Use in dry areas only
Avoid placing the mat in damp areas like bathrooms. If the leather parts dry out over time, you can condition them with products made for leather—test on a small hidden area first.
